INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K
INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K
Product Description
INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K is a two-component, cold-applied, chemically curing, self-leveling, polyurethane-based elastomeric joint sealant with high elasticity, strong adhesion, and high resistance to dynamic movement and heavy traffic conditions. It is resistant to organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, oils, fuels, antifreezes, and various chemicals. It is UV resistant.
Areas of Application
Specially formulated to provide a smooth surface for horizontal joints, INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K has a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications where load-bearing capacity and elasticity are required together. With various color options, it meets aesthetically demanding requirements. Highways exposed to all kinds of traffic, bridge joints, stadiums, industrial floors, warehouses, storage facilities, port areas, dam platforms, supermarkets, shopping centers, pedestrian areas, sidewalks, airport runways, parking lots, terminals, ramps, cargo areas, and similar open or enclosed areas and roads are among its usage areas. It is also used around and beneath manhole covers on urban roads to ensure sealing and adhesion.
Advantages
-Polyurethane-based, two-component.
-Cold-applied.
-Chemically cures and self-levels to a smooth surface.
-Extremely high bonding strength.
-Can be used in indoor and outdoor applications.
-Resistant to dynamic movements.
-Resistant to oils, fuels, and many chemicals.
-UV resistant. Available in standard catalog colors.
-Faster or slower curing rates can be adjusted according to user needs.
Joint Design
The width of the joints should not be less than four times the anticipated movement and not less than 6 mm. For joint widths up to 15 mm, joint depth should equal the width. For joints between 15 and 30 mm wide, joint depth should be 80% of the width. For wider joints, depth should be fixed at 30 mm. A backer rod material must be used inside the joint to adjust these depths. In new concrete fields, proper joint design and filling of control joints created during or after pouring are essential to localize cracks caused by shrinkage. Reviewing our technical documentation regarding joint design is recommended.
Application
Surface Preparation: Joint surfaces must be clean and dry. Oil, grease, bitumen, or old joint sealants must be completely removed. Loose particles at the joint edges must be cleaned, and damaged joint edges repaired. INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K, like all polyurethane materials, is affected by water before curing. Therefore, joints must be dry and protected from water contact until chemical curing is completed.
Backer Material
To ensure the appropriate joint depth according to joint width, a non-adhering backer rod should be inserted into the joint. Closed-cell polyethylene foam backer rods are suitable for this purpose. The rod diameter should be 10-25% larger than the joint width, and inserted by compression. Care must be taken not to damage the rods during installation. For wide joints, semi-rigid materials such as polystyrene foam may be used; in such cases, polyethylene tape must be placed over the base material to prevent adhesion.
Mixing
INNOPUR SEAL PU SELF-2K consists of two components, Component A and Component B, pre-packaged in correct mixing ratios. Open Component A and mix it within its container for 2-3 minutes. Then pour all of Component B into Component A and mix using a low-speed mixer (100-500 rpm) with a suitable paddle for 4-5 minutes. For manual mixing, mix for a longer period to ensure homogeneity. Move the mixer continuously across the vessel and avoid air entrapment.
Application
Determine the batch quantity that can be applied within the pot life, considering the application area and equipment capacity. Mixed material must be applied within its pot life. Solvent must NEVER be added to thin or revive material that has completed its pot life. Expired material must not be used.
Limitations
Not recommended for joints narrower than 5 mm. Do not apply on dirty, oily, bituminized, or wet joints. Thorough cleaning before application is essential for optimal adhesion. Despite high load resistance, studded tires, tire chains, and sharp heels may cause damage. Ambient temperature during application must be between 5°C and 35°C. If application outside these limits is mandatory, consult the technical service.
Application Tools
Mixer, application gun, application machine, spatula. All equipment must be of professional quality.
Cleaning
Application equipment and contaminated tools must be cleaned immediately before the sealant cures. Tools should be wiped with a cloth or rag first, then cleaned with aromatic solvents such as toluene or xylene.
Safety
The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) must be carefully read and followed by applicators and supervisors. Empty packaging must be disposed of in accordance with relevant local regulations.
Storage
Material must be stored in dry, covered warehouses. Recommended storage temperature is 10–25°C. Under these conditions, the product retains its properties for 1 year in unopened original packaging.
Maintenance
Damaged areas of the joint sealant can be repaired and put back into service. Contact our Technical Support team for detailed procedures.
Packaging
