Product Overview
INNOPUR SEAL PU THIX-2K is a polyurethane-based, two-component, cold-applied, chemically curing, paste-consistency (THIX), elastomeric joint sealant with high operational flexibility and adhesion strength, resistant to dynamic movements and heavy traffic conditions. It is resistant to organic and inorganic acids and alkalis, oil, fuel, antifreeze, and many chemicals. It is UV resistant.
Areas of Use
Specially formulated for vertical joints, INNOPUR SEAL PU THIX-2K has a wide range of applications in both indoor and outdoor environments where load-bearing resistance and elasticity are required together. With various color options, it can also meet visually demanding requirements. Some of its application areas include highways exposed to all types of traffic, bridge joints, stadiums, industrial floors, warehouses, logistics centers, port areas, dam platforms, supermarkets, commercial centers, pedestrian zones, pavements, airport runways, parking areas, terminals, ramps, cargo areas, and similar open or closed spaces and roads. Similarly, it is used on urban roads around and under manhole covers to ensure sealing and adhesion.

Joint Design
The width of the joints should not be less than four times the expected movement and not less than 6 mm. For joint widths up to 16 mm, the sealant depth should equal the width. For joints between 16 and 26 mm in width, the depth should be 80% of the width. A backing material should be placed inside the joint to adjust the depth.
Application
Surface Preparation: Joint surfaces must be clean and dry. Oil, grease, bitumen, or old joint materials must be completely removed. Loose material at joint edges must be cleared, and damaged joint edges repaired. INNOPUR SEAL PU THIX-2K, like all other polyurethane-based materials, is affected by water prior to curing. Therefore, joints must be dry and the sealant must not come into contact with water until chemical curing is complete.
Backing Material
To achieve the required joint depth according to joint width, a backing rod that preferably does not adhere to the sealant should be inserted into the joint. Closed-cell polyethylene foam backing rods are suitable for this purpose. The diameter of the rod should be 10-25% larger than the joint width, and it should be inserted firmly. Care must be taken not to damage the rod during placement. For wide joints, semi-rigid materials like polystyrene foam may be used instead. In such cases, a polyethylene tape must be placed over the backing material to prevent adhesion.
Mixing
INNOPUR SEAL PU THIX-2K consists of two components named A and B, pre-packaged in proper mixing ratios. Open Component A and stir it on its own for 2-3 minutes. Then, open Component B, pour it completely into Component A, and mix using a low-speed mixer (100-500 rpm) equipped with a suitable paddle for 4-5 minutes. For manual mixing, stir longer to ensure a homogeneous mix. Ensure the mixer moves all around the container and avoid trapping air.
Application
Determine the workable quantity based on application site constraints and the pot life of the product. The mixed material must be used within its pot life. Do not use any solvents to thin out paste that has completed its pot life. Expired material must be discarded.
Limitations
Not recommended for joints narrower than 5 mm. Do not apply on dirty, oily, bituminized, or wet joints. Thorough cleaning of such joints prior to application is essential for good adhesion. Despite high load resistance, spiked tires, snow chains, or stiletto heels may cause damage. Ambient temperature during application should be between 5°C and 35°C. If application outside these conditions is required, consult the manufacturer for recommendations.
Application Tools
Mixer, application gun, dispensing machine, spatula. All equipment used should be of professional quality.
Cleaning
Application equipment and other tools contaminated with the sealant paste must be cleaned before it hardens. Tools should first be wiped with a cloth or cotton waste, then cleaned with aromatic solvents such as toluene or xylene.
Safety
The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) should be thoroughly read by applicators and supervisors, and instructions followed accordingly. Empty packaging must be disposed of in compliance with local regulations and laws.
Storage
Material should be stored in dry, covered warehouses. Recommended storage temperature is 10–25°C. Under these conditions, the product retains its properties for one year in unopened original packaging.
Maintenance
Damaged areas of the joint filler can be repaired and put back into service. Contact our Technical Support service for guidance if needed.
